A plain simple blog on what's going around you and me!!!
Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh are now locked in a bitter war of words over the issues of free power to farmers and the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal. While Badal, the incumbent SAD's chief patron, called Amarinder anti-farmer and held him and his party responsible for the plight of the farmer in Punjab, the Congress leader countered by saying that either the Akali leader was a liar or had "lost his mind and memory". "Amarinder sudden love for farmers is confined up to the elections. He has an anti-farmer mindset, and it has reflected in his policies and attitude time and again. While we (SAD-BJP alliance) have been providing free power to farmers, Amarinder had discontinued it during his regime and put enormous burden on farmers. If Captain returns to power, he will withdraw the facility again. Captain and the Congress are responsible for the plight of the farming community in Punjab today," Badal said. Amarinder issued a statement to counter Badal's claim. "We not only provided free power to farmers, but also for full eight hours every day. In case there is a power cut, it will be compensated next day," he said. Badal on the other hand claimed that Captain was the ‘conspiracy’ leader for constructing the SYL Canal. Reverting harshly to Badal’s statement, Amarinder dared the CM to take an oath in front of the Akal Takht that he had not signed the papers and approved the construction of SYL. "Badal did it to please his friend and the then Haryana CM, Devi Lal, in 1978," he said.
